31-05-2017, An appeal/upon letter has been advertised/published in daily Business Recorder, daily Newa-e-Waqat & Roznama Pakistan, requesting the Government of Punjab for remedial measures required to save the Ethanol Industry in Punjab from collapse as well as foreign exchange for country being earned for export of Ethanol by withdrawal of notification for imposition of excise duty on Ethanol@ Rs.2 per litter produced even for Export as well as local.

 

18-05-2017, A meeting of PEMA Management was held with the Provincial Minister of Excise & Taxation, Information and Culture at CM House Lahore. The Chairman/Vice Chairman briefed to the Minister about the pros and cons of levy of Rs.2/- per liter on Ethanol and requested for its withdraw which will be in the best interest of Ethanol Distilleries as well as for the country by earning of foreign exchange.

The honourable Minister has promised to discuss this case with the CM Punjab in the next cabinet meeting and will recommend for withdrawal of additional duty imposed on the Ethanol.

 

25-04-2017 ,As per Memorandum of Association of Pakistan Ethanol Manufacturers Association a Registered Office was established in Lahore at 146-M Gulberg-III Lahore which has now been re-located in its new premises at 26, Ascenso Suits 1st Floor, International Market M Block Model Town Lahore with the appointment of required staff.

 

The Chairman of PEMA, Sh. Muhammad Saeed alongwith Mr. Muhammad Waheed Ch, Vice chairman and Mr. Muhammad Sohail Khokhar, Member Executive Committee have inaugurated the office on 25th April, 2017.

The Chairman has expressed his views that by establishing of an independent office of pema and Regional offices at Karachi and Islamabad as well as appointment of an independent Secretary General will help to stream line the office procedure/documents and to develop the better working relationship among the members of PEMA.

 

The Chairman, PEMA also requested to all the members to extend their cooperation for smooth and affective functioning of Association for the best interest of the Ethanol Industry in Pakistan so that problems of our industry may be solved amicably with joint efforts of all the members.

 

 

13 & 14 April 2017 a conference of all Pakistan Secretary General of Chambers of Commerce/Trade Organizations was held at Hospitality INN Lahore which was organized by the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) affiliate of the U.S Chamber of Commerce.  The Secretary General Pema has attended the said conference which was very productive and informative for running of day to day affairs of an association. All the Secretary General has share their views and experience as well as Rules/Acts of DGTO were also discussed momentarily.

a meeting of management Committee

On 18-05-2017 a meeting of management Committee of PEMA comprising of Sh. Muhammad Saeed, Chairman, Mr. Muhammad Waheed Ch, Vice Chairman, Mr. Ahmed Jehanzeb Khan, Member Executive Committee, Mr. Muhammad Shafiq, Member, Mr. Ahsan Ali, and Mr. Arshad Javaid Kayani, Secretary General was held with Mr. Mujtaba Shajah Ur Rehman, Minister for Excise & Taxation and Information/ Culture in the Committee Room of CM House Lahore. The DG Excise and Taxation was also present in the meeting.

The Chairman, PEMA has given presentation to the Minister regarding withdrawal of Excise duty of Rs.2/- per liter imposed by the Government of Punjab. Mr. Muhammad Waheed Ch, Vice Chairman also briefed to the Minister about the pros and cons of the above levy and its affect on export of Ethanol as well as earning of foreign exchange.

The Minister has very kindly promised to take up the case with the authority(CM Punjab) in the next Cabinet Meeting to resolve the issue with the view of  Punjab  Ethanol Industry.
